Travel Itinerary :
Departure from Tangier to Chefchaouen: the trip takes about 2 hours and a half through the Riff mountains, passing through small Berber villages and the most impressive landscape. Chefchaouen is famous for the blue houses washed with lime; crowded squares, steep alleys, and the best way to discover this sacred city is to wander through the atmosphere. Cut on the sides of two mountains, Chefchaouen is a city with Bleue and white lime houses. A powerful charm that you can really feel in the Outa-el-Hammam square, in the cobbled medina. Sitting on the terrace of a cafeteria, you can enjoy the attractive view of the great Tarik-Ben-Ziad mosque whose octagonal minaret is inspired by the Golden Tower of Seville. This Andalusian architecture can be found in the Kasbah and its gardens, in the centre of the medina. Its walls and its 11 crenulated towers, one of which used to be a dungeon, a house and an interesting ethnographic museum.
In the small museum of the Kasbah you can find collections of embroidery and garments varied and colorful as those worn by men and women of North Africa. The welcome and the great hospitality offered by its inhabitants can be experienced during a visit to a traditional oil mill (there are more than 1500) or a workshop of craftsmen. Beyond its weaving, Chefchaouen is famous for its basketry and pottery.
